NOTE: Microwave power can vary from appliance to appliance, my microwave is 1100 watts your may be higher or lower than mine. Keep this in mind and adjust for time based on the wattage for your appliance. Did you know that you can bake an amazing cake in less than 10 minutes without heating up your house in the microwave? Well you can and I am going to show you how! Many of us like to keep cake mixes on the pantry shelf for quick treats and one night we all wanted something sweet but I didn’t want to bake because it would take too long, so I thought, lets use a casserole dish and put it in the microwave! What did I have to lose but a cake mix and a few eggs and a bit of oil?
I used on Duncan Hines dark chocolate fudge cake mix and prepared it according to the directions with the exception I used cold brewed coffee in place of the recommended amount of water. I baked my cake for 8 minutes and 30 seconds or until the top of the cake was dry. You may need to adjust the time depending on the wattage of your microwave.
I have baked three cakes this way in the last couple of weeks. I made one using a Supermoist cake mix and it cracked and did not turn out well at all. It tasted good, but looked horrible.
This cake was simply topped with confectioners sugar and served warm with vanilla ice cream. Last week I made one out of a white cake mix and allowed it to cool, split it into two layers and filled it with freshly whipped cream and strawberries and topped it with more whipped cream and strawberries. It was amazing.
I hope this gives you a fabulous idea about how you can whip up a quick and easy cake for family and friends at the drop of a hat and enjoy it right away.
I hope you give this a try and I hope you love it!
