She combines 2 of her favorite meals into one and makes Cornbread Topped Chili Casserole. But, chili fanatics and cornbread admirers often disagree about 2 ingredients. Do BEANS belong in Chili? 1 lb. ground meat
1 cup diced onion
1 cup diced green pepper
3-4 cloves minced garlic
2-3 tbsp chili powder
1-2 tbsp cumin
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 pint tomato sauce
1 pint kidney beans
1 pint diced tomatoes
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp worceshestire sauce (or whatever it’s called)
Brown meat with onion and peppers. Add garlic and all dry seasonings. Cook 2-3 minutes. Add and stir all remaining ingredients. Bring to boil then simmer until most of liquid has evaporated. Pour into greased casserole dish.
1 cup cornmeal/ cornflour
1 cup white flour
5 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1/4 cup oil
Combine dry ingredients. Mix in wet ingredients. Pour batter evenly over chili mixture. Bake 400 degrees 25 minutes.
